Privacy Policy for Central Ohio's Programs for Animal Welfare (COPAW)

Kitticcino Charities, doing business as Central Ohio's Programs for Animal Welfare ("COPAW," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of our users. This Privacy Policy applies to our applications, inquiries, and any other services we provide that integrate with Meta Platforms, Inc. services ("Meta Platform Services").
 

This policy is designed to comply with applicable laws and regulations.

We collect information from or about you to provide, support, and improve our services and to fulfill our mission for animal welfare. The type of information we collect depends on how you use our services.

A. Information You Provide Directly to Us:

  • Contact Information: Your name, email address, phone number, and physical address (e.g., for adoption applications or volunteer sign-ups).

  • Adoption/Foster Information: Details you provide in applications, such as home environment details, references, and preferences for an animal.

  • Donation Information: Payment information, though processed securely by a third-party payment processor, and your contact details for tax receipts.

  • Communications: Information you provide when contacting us for support, inquiries, or feedback.

  • User-Generated Content: Photos, videos, or posts you share within the application (e.g., of adopted pets).

B. Information We Collect from Meta Platform Services:

When you choose to log in to our application using your Meta account (e.g., Facebook or Instagram Login), or interact with Meta Platform Services through our application, we may receive the following categories of information, depending on the permissions you grant:

  • Basic Profile Information: Your name, email address, profile picture, and user ID.

  • Friends/Connection Information: A list of your friends or connections who also use our application (only with your explicit permission).

  • Meta User Data: Any other information you permit Meta to share with us, as detailed in the permission screen shown when you first connect our service to your Meta account.

C. Other Automatically Collected Information:

  • Usage Data: Information about how you use our application, such as the pages or features you access, the animals you view, the time and duration of your activity, and diagnostic data (e.g., crash reports).

  • Device Information: Information about the device you use to access our application, including hardware model, operating system, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information.

 

2. How We Use the Information We Collect

 

We use your information only for the purposes clearly described below and as permitted by the DDUP and other applicable Meta policies.

CommunicationTo respond to your requests, send you service updates, confirmation of donations, or information about available animals and events.

Service ImprovementTo analyze usage trends, track application performance, and gather insights to improve the design and functionality of our services. (Note: Any analytics data will be aggregated, de-identified, or anonymized in a way that does not allow for re-identification, as required by Meta policy).

Safety and SecurityTo monitor and enforce our terms of use, prevent fraud, and ensure the security of our services.

ComplianceTo comply with legal obligations, requests from law enforcement, and Meta's Platform Policies.

We DO NOT use any Meta User Data for marketing or advertising purposes beyond what is strictly defined as Permitted Uses of User Data under the DDUP.

 

3. How We Share Information

 

We do not sell your personal data. We only share information in the following circumstances:

  • With Your Consent: We will share your information if you direct us to do so, such as when you submit an adoption application that requires sharing your information with a specific COPAW volunteer or partner shelter.

  • With Third-Party Service Providers: We may share your information with vendors, consultants, and other service providers who need access to such information to perform work on our behalf (e.g., cloud hosting, database management, and analytics services). These third parties are prohibited from using your data for any purpose other than to provide the contracted service and are required to maintain the security and confidentiality of the data.

  • For Legal Reasons and Meta Policy Compliance: We may disclose your information if we believe disclosure is necessary to comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; to enforce our agreements, policies, and terms of service; or to protect the security or integrity of our services.

  • Business Transfers: In connection with, or during negotiations of, any merger, sale of organizational assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of our organization by another entity.

 

4. Data Security and Retention

 

We implement commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.

We retain the information we collect for as long as necessary to provide our services, for our necessary internal purposes, or to comply with our legal obligations.

 

5. Your Rights and Data Deletion Request

 

You have the right to request access to and deletion of your User Data.

  • Data Deletion: If you would like us to delete the User Data we have collected from or about you, you can submit a deletion request via hello@copaw.org

  • We will promptly delete your User Data upon request, unless legally required to retain it. We will also require all third parties with whom we shared your data to delete it, unless legally prohibited.

  • Please Note: If you delete your account or User Data, certain functions or services may no longer be available to you.
